I still can't believe that we are in 2009 already... where did they year go?
January:
Jeff had his company trip to Florida, enjoyed some fun in the sun while the grandmas stayed with the boys. Erik also worked on his huge project about the Wright-Brothers.
February:
Had a few nice days out in the sun at the park... hard to believe in Indiana....used those pictures for our Easter card.
Then of course there were a few not so nice days, ones with ice... and I happened to take a fall and catch myself with my right arm as I landed. My elbow hurt after, but it wasn't until May that we finally found out that I had injured it pretty bad.
March:
Hosted Easter at our house for the family. Always fun to have the cousins in to play.
I also started a challenge with my bootcamp class. I had a resolution at new years to get in the best shape of my life so far... bootcamp was my mission to help me get there. After having Kristian, going through two moves, and lots of life changes, I needed time to focus on me again and get back to where I needed to be.
April:
Totally into this bootcamp challenge. Following meal plans, bootcamp every morning at 5:30am. Focus and dedication is paying off.
Friends came to visit, always fun to see them... we miss being so close.
May/June:
Small snag in my training plans, with the pain in my elbow finally diagnosed, I had surgery to reconstruct my elbow in May. A torn radial collataral ligament repaired with a tendon from my wrist. Started out the summer with a contraption that made me feel like a bionic woman. But it did not stop me... I still went to bootcamp, learned to do things with one arm... even pushups. Started running again, pushing the stroller one-handed through the neighborhood.
Erik was a busy summer swimmer, Kristian wanted nothing to do with the water.
The challenge for bootcamp came to an end in June, and although I didn't win, I was happy with my progress.. during the challenge I lost over 25 lbs and over 25 inches... Overall, since I started losing before the challenge, I was down 45lb. It was so fun to get all dressed up and celebrate that night for the bootcamp appreciation dinner.
July:
So much fun with the kids. Kristian turned 3 and started liking the pool... thanks to Erik who took him in the water and made him swim. Also, lots of fun out in the alley with the neighbor kids, since we finally have neighbors. It made for one fun summer.
Extra fun as July was when we took our trip to our friends cottage...summer just isn't complete with out it.
August:
Took a family vacation to Mackinaw Island. Rode bikes, walked, ate ice cream, had a great time getting away. Took so many pictures... that still need to be scrapbooked.
Time for school to start again too.... Kristian in preschool and Erik in 4th grade.
September:
Soccer, trips to the Children's museum and Erik turns 9.
Also, a sad month as Troi goes to "Kitty Heaven" after being part of our family for 14 years.
Duncan joins us as a new bundle of joy and brings lots of fun and spark.
October:
Still doing bootcamp, just can't stop now. And finally back to being able to play tennis again.
Kristian started doing Little Kickers and I found I have another soccer player in the family. He loves to run and kick, and kick and run, and not too bad at it either!
November:
Spent Thanksgiving out on the farm and celebrated Christmas at the same time with my family.
Looking back at pictures from the year, I am so amazed at how fast these boys grow.
Erik, my 9yr old 4th grader... I still can't believe it. Seems like just yesterday he was in Kindergarten in Texas.
December:
Jeff and I decided to run the mini again. I think we are crazy, but now that we are doing it, I am excited about it. We have been researching training plans, scheduling them out and are ready to get it going. Now back in running again, it is actually fun again.. and with 65lbs gone now, it is so much easier! I'm excited to see how I actually do in the mini (my goal is just to run, not walk, the whole thing) since by then I am hoping to have a total of 85 lbs gone.
Christmas was spent in NYC for a couple days and then in Connecticut with JEff's Danish relatives. It was so nice for him to have that time with his family. The kids had a great time meeting their cousins and they hit it off so well.

Back home LATE on Christmas night, the kids opened their presents from us and Santa.
And then early on the 26th, Jeff took Erik to get his tonsils and adenoids removed. The rest of our Christmas break was spent on the couch, playing games, napping, watching movies and eating ice cream.
And now ready for 2009.... for once my new year's resolution came true and gives me hope for this year...
Looking forward to a good 2009!
- No surgeries
- Run the Mini-Marathon in May

Wishing you all a very happy and wonderful 2009!
