changes...

So last summer, Jeff had surgery to repair his Achilles.  This summer, I get surgery, to repair my elbow.  Looks like a simple slip and fall that I did in February that is still not healing right, is resulting in me needing to get my tendon repaired and elbow cleaned out. 

Jeff says its the tragedy of being 35.

Getting it repaired, although it means 3-4 months off from tennis, means that I will hopefully get to play until I'm 75 or older. 

Other than the pain in my elbow, I've been working on my New Year's Resolution... still!  And I'm not going to let this surgery hold me back either.  The doc says after a week, I can go back to cardio and boot camp, just no arm exercises for a while.  I'm getting closer everyday to reaching my goal, and maybe I might even try for this.

These two boys are growing up and becoming best of friends! They even chose to have bunk beds and stay in the same room now!

did you feel it?

So I woke up this morning, at 5:35... my bed was rockin... LITERALLY...  the doors shaking... I woke up Jeff to find out what was going on.  He said, check the washing  machine and fell back asleep.

Washing machine wasn't even on. 

I lay there in bed thinking... that couldn't have been an earthquake, was it? 

And so it was... 5.4 hits Illinois and we feel it in Indiana.  The after tremor hit while I was in Target and all the doors on the milk case opened as I walked by. 

Erik wanted to know when he woke up why Kristian was shaking the bed during the night. :)  (The boys now sleep in bunk beds at their choice!)

Off to scrapbook tonight... looking forward to getting some pages done.

Loving Indiana weather (other than earthquakes) right now... 65-70 is my type of weather. 

I have a new name

Today was the last day of boot camp #4.  On your fourth boot camp, our instructor gives you a fleece jacket with the Adventure Boot Camp logo on it.  I had to cancel out of the camp last month because my elbow hurt so bad and it was such a bummer to not get my coat that round. 

But, I have it now.  I've worked hard, I earned it... and after 4 boot camps, its starting to be noticeable! 

We have two weeks off, so I'm looking forward to sleeping in, but getting my running back up to par.  I feel like I have slacked off so much in that area of my conditioning. 

Next session starts April 21... back outside... this time in the high school stadium.  I fear there may be stair running in my future. 

 

I think Spring is almost around the corner, it keeps peeking out.  And when it does, we race to the park it feels like.

We mulched our limited landscaping and I've found out that I have a gardener in the family...

He showed signs of it at age 2.  Now at 8.5, he loves it even more.  We got a 5 yard pile of mulch in the driveway, and the hardest worker out of the bunch, was ERIK!  He loved to shovel, take the wheelbarrow and dump it, spread out the mulch with the rake and go right back to it.  Well, I'm going to keep this one going!  Tomorrow we are going to head out and get the plants and get to work on making our yard look springy and pretty! 

I took pictures around the house and have been adding in plants and positioning to see what I like and where.  I think we have a good plan and are ready to execute!

happy easter... EARLY!

In February, we had a day with a sneak peak of spring weather.  It was so nice to get the boys out and enjoy the park.  I'm ready for the warm weather to be here everyday!  Enough of this ice, cold, dreary days.  There is a little sun out today.... teasing me :) The pictures I took that February day, looked perfect for a Happy Easter card. 

We are looking forward to celebrating Easter at our house, all the family coming in. I'm just hoping and praying for nice weather, to get the firepit and table out, and BBQ in the backyard! 

News from here....

Jeff is running up to 2 miles now, he is healing so nicely.  I, on the other hand, have been taking it easy.  Slipped on the ice three weeks ago when out for a walk and caught myself with my right hand backwards.  My elbow is still aching, waiting now for the results of my X-ray yesterday :(.  (ETA: No fracture!  just a bad contusion of the elbow... back to bootcamp and tennis next week!)  It hasn't stopped me from still walking outside, but it has stopped me from bootcamp, tennis... ugh... I think I'm going to go crazy with my sanity things away from me right now.

Erik had his last swim meet of the season this weekend.  He is getting so much better.  It will be nice to have a small break from that and then summer will be here before we know it, right????

Kristian, he has such a fun personality right now and being 2.5, he is getting so much easier to take places as he will actually listen at times! :)  I think I have FINALLY convinced him that it is ok to watch the SPROUT channel as he will ask for it now over Star Wars!  He loves to go to Target, Meijer, and all those places as long as they have a shopping cart.  He and I can walk the aisles for hours.  I'm training him right :)

We did finally attempt story time at the library, and he LOVED it.  Well, he sat quietly and I'll take that!  I think we are in for a very fun summer. 

Oh, and if you are a Guitar Hero (for the Wii)... send me your friend code and I'll take you on!  My Guitar showed up this weekend and now Jeff and I don't have to fight over his. 

spring is coming, right?

since spring is on its way, or at least I am planning for it to come soon, starting to get ideas for what to do with our new back yard.

Before, our courtyard of a yard was limited in space by the hottub and grill.  We have an outdoor firepit also, but it is in the garage at the time for the winter.

The construction all occurred in December before Christmas and finished in time for our 1 year anniversary in our home.

 

We extended the patio, had a fence and pergola put in, and had the grill built in.

I'm so happy with the results.  In the spring, the fence and pergola will be painted to match our white trim on the house.  I'm looking for wine barrels to do some fun container gardening...

really want to build a table like this...

and continually ... looking for any and all ideas to convert my outdoor space to our little piece of Texas in Indiana. 

Ok - 60 degrees... you can come anytime now!

Race for the Cure

Got a note from my neighbor about joining her work's team for the April 19the Race for the Cure.  Since we are working to be ready for the May 5K race, decided to be a part of it, especially since it is a great cause to run for.  The whole family is joining in, even Kristian.  Although, he will have the easy time in his jogger stroller.

This may not mean much to most of you, but to me, this picture is sheer happiness.

My External Hard Drive went a bad direction monday night.  Fears of pictures gone forever, Lots of sad moments, google searches, diagnostics and finally a data recovery program success later... all the lost data on my drive is back.
